Seabuckthorn plants are dioecious meaning they have separate male and female plants. One male for every six females is required for successful pollination. An excellent option is the Pollmix variety offered at Sage Garden. 

KEY ATTRIBUTES:

Seabuckthorn is a famously prairie-friendly shrub often used in agricultural shelter belts but more recently acclaimed for the super-high vitamin C content of the orange berries. The berries ripen over the summer and are harvested in early autumn. Orange Energy is cutting grown female selection that needs to be paired with a known male plant in order to fruit. Orange Energy is ultra-high yielding and the berries have above average sweetness. 

 PRE-ORDER DETAILS:

This item will be available for local pick-up in late May 2026 (close to planting out time). This is potted spring nursery stock established in a 1-gallon pot. Trees and shrubs are warrantied for 1 year from date of pick-up, provided they are planted after June 1, and watered/cared for as required (see refund policy for full details).

No changes or cancellations to orchard plant pre-orders after March 15, 2026, and orders must be picked-up within 14 days of "pick-up" notification being sent in late May.
