Sage Garden has been growing amazing plants in Winnipeg, Manitoba, since 1996. We specialize in healthy gardening with a focus on sustainable greenhouse production practices and an organic approach to gardening education with our customers.

We offer 1,000+ varieties of cool plants across the season, 400+ varieties of certified organic seeds and a full complement of indoor and outdoor growing supplies. 

Sage Garden is open year-round… and we are proud of the innovations we bring to our way of doing business:

• We use 100% compost-based fertilizers for ALL of the plants we grow.
• We use 100% sustainable pest management practices, and never use conventional greenhouse chemicals. This is a proactive process that includes the regular introduction of carefully selected beneficial insects, horticultural oils, Safer's End-All and a variety of greenhouse hygiene practices. 
• We exclusively use compost-enhanced living soils with 100% OMRI organic peat or coco-coir bases. 
• Starting in 2020, Sage Garden switched to 100% biodegradable wood-fibre pots for the majority of our spring and summer plants. We are now working on replacing plastic for the majority of our indoor plants as well. In 2022, Sage Garden purchased ZERO new plastic for production pots, instead using the organic wood fibre, heavier duty mixed wood fibre or re-purposed/re-used plastic. 
• We proactively review all products and evaluate how we can reduce or eliminate plastics from the packaging. For example, we have switch from using plastic bags for our potting mixes to a true home-compostable, zero plastic alternative. In another example, we chose 100% natural cotton pouches for our ReWilding Seed Collections so that the (very pretty) packaging can be either reused or composted by the end user. 
• Sage Garden is among the only commercial greenhouses in Canada using zero emissions geothermal heating and cooling in our production greenhouse.
• We source *certified organic first and offer hundreds of selections grown from certified organic seeds or cuttings. This includes herbs, veggies, flowers and perennials.
• Sage Garden carefully evaluates supplier inputs so as to avoid harmful chemicals such as neonicotinoids in the cuttings and young plants we get from third-party propagators. 

*some plant starts and seeds are simply not available certified organic in which case we do use conventional seeds or cuttings.
