Garden Club - Backyard birding through winter
There is no cost to attend these workshops. Registration opens up six days before each date. Please use the "add to cart" button to secure your FREE registration (cart button appears the Sunday before the date)
Date: Saturday, November 25; 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Host: Marleen Waldron & Ward Christianson
Registration: Winter Garden Club workshops require registration, to ensure we have comfortable space for attendees (see details above). The capacity limit for classes is twenty people.
We do ask that participants bring a non-perishable food item for donation. All donations are picked up by the hardworking volunteers at St. Mary's Road United Church, which operates a busy food bank in St. Vital, serving an average of 700 people per month.
Details: One of the great joys of being a gardener is connecting with nature, and that does not need to end in winter. Local birders (and naturescapers!) Marlene and Ward look forward to sharing best practices for encouraging overwintering birds into our yards. Topics covered will include feeding, shelter, types of birds to look out for, and how our gardens can play a role in helping wintering birds.
Sage Garden is making a donation to Nature Manitoba in association with this theme and workshop.
About the hosts: Marleen and Ward began their interest in birding in the early 90's and regularly participate in activities like the Christmas Bird Count, breeding bird surveys, Feeder Watch as well as leading bird walks for Nature Manitoba. They also enjoy feeding birds in their Winnipeg yard.
