Garden Club - Meet your farmers! Life of a young farm family
There is no cost to attend these workshops. Registration opens up six days before each date. Please use the "add to cart" button to secure your FREE registration (cart button appears the Sunday before the date)
Date: Saturday, December 9; 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Host: Michelle Schram and Troy Stozek, Fresh Roots Farm
Registration: Winter Garden Club workshops require registration, to ensure we have comfortable space for attendees (see details above). The capacity limit for classes is twenty people.
We do ask that participants bring a non-perishable food item for donation. All donations are picked up by the hardworking volunteers at St. Mary's Road United Church, which operates a busy food bank in St. Vital, serving an average of 700 people per month.
Details: Cartwright-based farmers Michelle and Troy (Fresh Roots Farm) will share their story of establishing themselves as a young farm family, with an emphasis on their values around regenerative farm practices and forging connections directly with those who benefit from the food they produce. An amazing opportunity to really get to know where food comes from, and meet these savvy, down-to-earth local farmers.
About the hosts: Fresh Roots Farm was established in 2011, by Michelle Schram and Troy Stozek, on a piece of land that was owned and farmed by Michelle’s grandparents and parents, near Cartwright in southwest Manitoba. Although Michelle grew up on her family’s nearby cattle ranch (Troy originally a town boy from Dauphin, MB) we both put down “fresh roots” with equally fresh ideas and optimism for growing good food from the land.
