Garden Club - Do plants really make us happier? An evidence-based answer (and it's yes!)
There is no cost to attend these workshops. Registration opens up six days before each date. Please use the "add to cart" button to secure your FREE registration (cart button appears the Sunday before the date)
Date: Saturday, November 18; 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Host: Dave Hanson
Registration: Winter Garden Club workshops require registration, to ensure we have comfortable space for attendees (see details above). The capacity limit for classes is twenty people.
We do ask that participants bring a non-perishable food item for donation. All donations are picked up by the hardworking volunteers at St. Mary's Road United Church, which operates a busy food bank in St. Vital, serving an average of 700 people per month.
Details: For so many of us, plants frequently bring on big, authentic smiles! Drawing on his longstanding interest in how people and plants interact, Dave will share a range of empirical research that helps us better understand the people-plant connection and leverage the wellness benefits of plants in a variety of even stronger ways. This class is going to feel good!
About the host: Dave is the founder of Sage Garden and enthusiastic ringmaster of our Garden Clubs. He has been growing plants indoors and out since he was a teenager, and loves to be surrounded by exotic, aromatic and edible plants year-round. You can catch Dave keeping busy in his many roles at Sage Garden, on CBC Radio during the Weekend Morning Show gardening call-in (Sundays, 8:30 am), and as co-host of the popular Grow Guide podcast.
Dave has a masters degree in psychology from the University of Manitoba with a specialization in counselling, and although his career has taken him in a different direction, he loves weaving the people-plant-wellness theme into his work at Sage Garden... for example, in this workshop!
