ZZ Raven - Live Plant

The best things about this plant are... the dark foliage and the easy-going care requirements!

The ZZ Ravens available December 2021 are well established and have been raised at Sage Garden. They are potted in 6" or 8" white ceramic decor pots as pictured... so all you have to do is take them home and enjoy!

Details: ZZ Raven is a houseplant lover's dream: a very unique, intense colour on a plant that is happy to thrive indoors and for the long term.

ZZ Raven thrives under average to warm conditions year-round and is perfectly happy in low to bright diffused light. Shine or rinse those gorgeous leaves every so often for a truly spectacular look. One problem growers run into with ZZ Raven is over watering; it is a very slow-growing cultivar and does not use up water quickly - water only when the soil has been dry to the touch for five or more days.

It is important to note that the new growth on Raven starts out vivid green, with the dark colouration developing on each new stem after about 8 weeks. Light conditions do not seem to change the foliage colour (which can be the case for other black foliage plants) so you can enjoy mature stems to be all dark whether in medium or brighter conditions.

Pickup Details: Sage Garden is currently curbside only, as in-store shopping is paused due to the current COVID situation; December 27, 2021). We are open New Year's Eve until 4 pm. January 2022 phone and pickup hours are Wednesday - Saturday are 10 - 5.

Sales on rare plants are final. These plants are very well established, healthy and exactly as photographed. Purchasers may decline the plant at the time of pickup, but once they leave Sage Garden they may not be returned for any reason

Shipping?

Sage Garden grows many unique varieties... so live plant shipping within Canada is available for select varieties mid-June through mid-October. We do not ship plants during freezing weather or during particularly hot weather - both of these situations are very hard on plants in transit.

Please note: customers are responsible for the full actual shipping charges (Canada Post or UPS) and understand that Sage Garden cannot take responsibility for damages that occur in shipping.

Plant size and condition

The plants photographed for web listings are representative but it is important to note that each plant is different, and maturity and fullness change with the seasons. Some plants go semi-dormant in winter, and transitional leaf drop is common for some plants when settling into a new home... this is considered normal. Decor pots featured in photos are available separately and are not included unless specifically noted in the description.

Care Tip #1

There is a lot less light indoors, especially as you move away from windows. Start by placing all indoor plants in the brightest location available and tune things from there.

Care Tip #2

Indoor plants benefit from regular showering! This keeps leaves dust-free so they can photosynthesize to their full potential, and also reduces the chances of pests occurring on houseplants.
