Shaggy parasols are a very common wild mushroom, considered edible by many foragers. They are from the agaric order, however, and some people are sensitive to them. Mushroom foraging has always been, and continues to be, practiced around the globe for sustenance and, as a pleasure pursuit. Foragers have guides and many rules about picking wild mushrooms including eating only small amounts of new-to-you wild mushrooms and taking spore prints from the mushroom's gills for identification.
