String of Pearls - Live Plant

The best thing about this plant is... just how stylish the plant becomes as the pearls start to spill over the edge of the container, particularly if grown hanging!

Details: Now very much "Insta-famous", the String of Pearls falls squarely in the category of a classic retro houseplant. With patience, the drapey strings of beaded foliage can grow very long and this is a houseplant that can be kept for years and years!

String of Pearls ( Senecio rowleyanus) thrives in bright light in pots between 4" and 8". Repot to larger containers as plants become root-bound. As with all potted plants, we strongly recommend planting in containers with excellent drainage. We make our own organic succulent mix for these using 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 compost (Sea Soil) and 1/3 organic conditioned peat. This type of succulent should be given half strength all-purpose organic fertilizer monthly, year-round.

Container Size: The plants pictured here were photographed in November 2020, and are representative of the available plants. These are in 4" pots.

Shipping?

Sage Garden grows many unique varieties... so live plant shipping within Canada is available for select varieties mid-June through mid-October. We do not ship plants during freezing weather or during particularly hot weather - both of these situations are very hard on plants in transit.

Please note: customers are responsible for the full actual shipping charges (Canada Post or UPS) and understand that Sage Garden cannot take responsibility for damages that occur in shipping.

Plant size and condition

The plants photographed for web listings are representative but it is important to note that each plant is different, and maturity and fullness change with the seasons. Some plants go semi-dormant in winter, and transitional leaf drop is common for some plants when settling into a new home... this is considered normal. Decor pots featured in photos are available separately and are not included unless specifically noted in the description.

Care Tip #1

There is a lot less light indoors, especially as you move away from windows. Start by placing all indoor plants in the brightest location available and tune things from there.

Care Tip #2

Indoor plants benefit from regular showering! This keeps leaves dust-free so they can photosynthesize to their full potential, and also reduces the chances of pests occurring on houseplants.
