Description: Nautic's claim to fame is better sprout spacing along the stem, which allows for easier harvesting and better disease resistance. Each tightly-wrapped sprout averages 1” in diameter. Plants are vigorous and sturdy averaging 30” tall. Brussels sprouts need to experience some light fall frost before harvesting.

Pack Size: 10 seeds

Latin Name: Brassica oleracea var. gemmifera
Main Uses: Vegetable

Days to Maturity: 120 days
Exposure: Full Sun
Height: 76 cm (30 inches)
Certified Organic: USDA Certified Organic

Germination: 5 - 10 days.
Sowing Indoors: 4 - 6 weeks before planting date. Planting out date in Manitoba is late May. (Brussels Sprouts need to be timed so that they experience some light frost at maturity as the frost will improve the quality of the ‘sprouts'.) Apply Sea Magic from first watering. From second set of true leaves to time of transplanting, alternate between Sea Magic and seed-starting fertilizer (such as Evolve) once per week.
Seeding Depth: 1/4”.
Planting Out: In late May. Water well after transplanting. Set the transplants into the garden soil a little deeper than they were in the seeding flats.
Plant Spacing: 18 - 24”.
Row Spacing: 30”.

Growing in Containers: Not recommended for containers.

Fertilizing (Garden): Amend garden beds with quality compost such as Sea Soil. Brussels Sprouts are heavy feeders - side dress with compost once plants reach 12” in height. Application of Sea Magic kelp throughout the growing season will result in heavier yields.

Growing in Containers: Not recommended for containers.

Watering (Garden): Water deeply as required.

Harvesting: Harvest sprouts after they have experienced a light frost. The bottom sprouts will be the first to mature. If a hard frost threatens unharvested sprouts, cut the entire stalk and hang it upside down in a cool place for up to 2 weeks. Harvest by twisting the sprouts from the stem.

Suitability for Indoors: Not suited to growing indoors.
