Discover the magic of dyeing fabric with Indigo!

Indigo is a rare true-blue natural dye, and one of the most revered of the natural dyes. In this workshop, we'll discuss the story of indigo, how to prepare the fabric to take the dye, create a sample indigo dye bath (due to time limitations, the dye baths participants will use will be pre-made). Then each participant will create pattern-work on a 24" x 24" organic cotton bandana, and dip their creations in the indigo dye bath to the desired depth of blue.

Workshop Details

• This workshop starts at 11:00 am and runs to about 12:30 pm
• The maximum class size is 12 participants
• All participants will pattern and dye a 24" x 24" organic cotton bandana

Instructor Bio: Marilyn Firth is a Manitoba farmer and textile artist who works in wool, silk, cotton, linen and hemp fibres, using all natural dyes. Though she includes knit and crochet work in her repertoire, her area of special interest is eco-dyeing on natural fibres. 

She grows her own dye plants on her market garden farm, where she and her family grow a broad mix of vegetables for sale through farmers’ markets. She is an avid supporter of supporting local, and ensuring that the materials she uses are ethically sourced.

• Cancellations after 48 hours but before class starts are refundable as a store credit
• No refunds or credits for cancellations after class has started
