Description: Milkweed plants are essential to Monarch butterflies, as the leaves are the only food source for Monarch caterpillars. Milkweed flowers are also a nectar source for Monarch and other butterflies. Whorled Milkweed has finely-textured narrow leaves and fragrant greenish-white flowers in summer. Spreads by roots but does not crowd out other plants.
