Description: We fell in love with this unique prairie-friendly tree when helping with garden tours in the East Kildonan neighbourhood of Winnipeg, and excited gardeners pointed out all of the landscapes where these are planted. The trees grow approximately 25 feet tall here, and fill out beautifully with spade-shaped leaves and gorgeous late-spring flowers that are often compared to orchids! Later in summer, distinctive long seed pods develop, with a look more tropical than prairie.
