The story of Typha, a home-grown horticultural innovation
There is no cost to attend these workshops. Please use the "add to cart" button to secure your FREE registration (cart button goes live the Sunday before each Garden Club date)
Date: Saturday, January 20; 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Host: Alec Masse, Typha Co.
Details: Alec is the co-founder of an innovative local start-up developing sustainable horticultural products from bullrushes, harvested from Lake Winnipeg. Alec has spent the last few years bringing his company's big ideas to market... and they are just about to launch. Join Alec to hear his story (includes a trip to the French version of Dragon's Den!), and how a very clever idea is set to become a win for both gardeners and local ecosystems.
Registration: Winter Garden Club workshops require registration, to ensure we have comfortable space for attendees (see details above). The capacity limit for these classes is twenty people. Use the "add to cart button" to access the free registration (goes live six days before each Garden Club date).
We do ask that participants bring a non-perishable food item for donation. All donations are picked up by the hardworking volunteers at St. Mary's Road United Church, which operates a busy food bank in St. Vital, serving an average of 700 people per month.
About the host: Alec obtained a Bachelor’s of Commerce (Honours) from the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba, with a double major in International Management and Entrepreneurship. Alec is driven to create and be a part of solutions that protect the environment as well as uplift social conditions.
