This plug tray format is a very economical way to establish a path, border, or outline pavers with zone 3 hardy creeping thyme.

Each tray includes ten plants of five varieties of zone 3 hardy creeping thyme, for a total of fifty well established plant plugs. Flower colours range from deep red-purple to soft pink and white. Creeping thyme is very attractive to beneficial insects and makes for a perfect ground cover between pavers, as a border and even as a lawn replacement! 

Plant creeping thyme in full sun, in a well weeded space. Each plant will typically fill in one square foot over the course of a season, so each tray covers an area of approximately fifty square feet. Over time, each plant can spread beyond one square foot. 

To establish your thyme tapestry, break open the roots of each plant as you you install them, being sure to water daily (for first week), then weekly (for the rest of first season) to encourage rapid settling in. Take care to regularly remove weeds until the thyme is fully established.
