"Smurfs" is a high anthocyanin variety (the antioxidant that gives blueberries their colour), typically harvested when shoulders are deep plum purple and bottoms have matured to bold red. Deep purple colour peaks in strong sunlight. Gorgeous for the 'wow factor' in salads.
