Botanical Name: Oreganum onites
Description: An exceptional variety from the Island of Crete. Very bold flavour fresh or dried, and I would consider this the best culinary oregano available, going way beyond Hot and Spicy or Greek Mountain selections. Both the leaves and flowers are used when dried.
Cretan oregano is also one of the best culinary oreganos for growing in pots and wintering indoors. It is an evergreen plant and has an upright growth habit, lending itself to container growing. Provide lots of sun, pinch to keep bushy and don't forget to fertilize about once a month (year round).
