Description: One of the most exciting pollinator annuals, this plant generates a lot of buzz! With its tall stature, it is a stage for the pollinators who perform a show atop its delectable purple, nectar-laden purple flowers clusters. Blooms from summer to fall.

Germination: 14 - 28 days at 16 - 30°C. Seed trays benefit from being warm during the day and cool at night to help break dormancy.

Pre-treatment: Stratify seeds for two weeks before sowing.
Sowing: Indoors 8 - 10 weeks before the last frost, 2 - 3 seeds per cell. For best results, apply Sea Magic™ kelp from the first watering. Apply a seedling-starter fertilizer such as Evolve Seedling once the second set of true leaves has appeared, and then alternate between the kelp and seedling starter until transplant. Take care to not overwater seedlings or keep them too damp.
Planting depth: 1/16”, Lightly covered.
Spacing:  45 - 60 cm between plants in the garden.
Planting Out: Well-drained soil once seedlings are established and the risk of frost has passed.

Growing in Containers: Ideal for larger containers.

Fertilizing (Containers): Use an organic bloom-boost fertilizer once plants start to set buds.

Watering (Containers): Water deeply when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Check every day or two during very hot weather.

Growing in Mixed Planters: Not suited to mixed planters.

Fertilizing (Garden): Plant in a garden bed amended with compost. No additional fertilizer is required.

Watering (Garden): Water young plants regularly to establish, then water deeply as conditions require.
