Coco Coir is a 100% peat-free byproduct of the coconut industry. It is considered an environmentally friendly alternative to peat in soil mixes. Easy to mix - just add water and let the compressed fibres expand (takes about 30 - 60 minutes on a block). 

Since it can absorb 10x its weight in water, it is popular as an amendment in hanging baskets and planters as it effectively reduces the amount of water required.

As a soil amendment, coco coir lasts longer than peat because of its long fibres.

A 4.5 kg block expands into approximately 2.5 cubic feet / 70L uncompressed.
