The best things about this plant are... just how easy-going it is as a houseplant, not to mention how bold and stylish this plant is!
Details: This is one bold bromeliad! The spiky purple foliage is very pineapple-like, and the colour and texture help it stand out from the crowd when it comes to succulents and related houseplants. We have found this selection to be very grower-friendly, without the fuss that some bromeliads insist on. Highly recommended.
Dyckia Grape Jelly grows quickly during the warm/high-light season and slows down through the winter. As such, water and feed regularly during the active seasons and reduce both during the winter (unless under lights). We use organic Evolve All-Purpose plant food for all of the plants we grow, and recommend the same for home gardeners. We use a custom potting mix for this type of succulent: 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 compost (Sea Soil) and 1/3 organic conditioned peat. The colour of 'Grape Jelly' is more intense when grown in bright light, but the plant is just fine in medium light conditions.
