From the Ground Up: Ecological Gardening Practices
There is no cost to attend these workshops. Please use the "add to cart" button to secure your FREE registration (cart button goes live the Sunday before each Garden Club date)
Date: Saturday, February 10; 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Host: Anessa Maize, local gardener
Details: The garden is an ecosystem full of relationships that, given the right environment, support each other to thrive. It all starts with building healthy soil with practices such as no/minimal till, (biologically active) compost, living pathways and mulches and cover crops. Anessa Maize will share what she's learning about these practices through her studies, as well as trial and error, with real life examples from her 1/4 acre garden and orchard in SE Manitoba.
Registration: Winter Garden Club workshops require registration, to ensure we have comfortable space for attendees (see details above). The capacity limit for these classes is twenty people. Use the "add to cart button" to access the free registration (goes live six days before each Garden Club date).
We do ask that participants bring a non-perishable food item for donation. All donations are picked up by the hardworking volunteers at St. Mary's Road United Church, which operates a busy food bank in St. Vital, serving an average of 700 people per month.
About the host: Anessa is an avid gardener who earned a Permaculture Design Certificate in 2018 and is currently completing courses at the Soil Food Web School. She has been sharing her gardening passion and know-how back to the community for years, including at past Garden Clubs and Garden Cub tours!
