Botanical name: Ranunculus sp.

Description: Ranunculus bulbs need to be stored until it is time to plant them in spring. The best storage method is to place the unpackaged bulbs in trays of vermiculite or sawdust in a cool, well-ventilated place where they will not freeze. 

Directions: Plant bulbs in spring after last frost. For earlier blooms, plant indoors 6 weeks before last frost. We recommend soaking the bulbs in water for 3 hours before planting and placing each bulb claw side down, making sure it is covered under 2" of soil. Water at time of planting and then start regular waterings once you start to see shoots coming up through the soil. Water when soil surface is dry to the touch. In fall, dig up tubers once the foliage has withered. Store the bulbs in a well-ventilated, cool location in vermiculite or dry peat moss.

Bulb Pre Orders

Fall bulbs will be available for pick up starting in mid-to-late September, 2023 (sorry, it is not possible to accomodate earlier dates). By pre-ordering you are purchasing from our confirmed inventory, avoiding the disappointment of sell-outs. The ideal planting time for hardy (outdoor) types is through the month of October. Amaryllis and saffron can be planted as soon as you are ready, indoors.

Our checkout limits flower bulbs to local pickup, local curbside pick up and local delivery (within Winnipeg). If you would like to have your order shipped to a location outside of Winnipeg, please let us know by calling 204-257-2715 or emailing customerservice@herbs.mb.ca. The minimum shipping charge for bulbs via Canada Post is $14.00, and may be more, depending on order size and destination.
