Description: Ever heard of hibiscus tea? This is the plant that yields the tart, red flowers that flavour this famous drink! Can be enjoyed hot or cold.
Grow in large pots, extending the opportunity to harvest the flowers into fall.

Germination: 14 - 28 days at 21ºC
Indoors: 1 seeds per plug, 6 - 8 weeks before last frost date. Seeds should be soaked in warm water for twenty minutes before sowing. Bottom heat will speed up germination, and create a more consistent germination rate.
Planting out: Plant in loose, fertile soil once all chance of frost has passed. Roselle is best suited to large pots when grown in cold climates.
Direct Seeding: Not well suited to direct seeding
Spacing: Allow about 30 cm (1 foot) per plant
Growing in Containers: Grows very well in larger containers and raised beds.
Growing in Mixed Planters: Grows best on its own.
Fertilizing (Containers): Plant in a quality, well-draining organic-based potting mix. Feed regularly with organic fertilizer.
Watering (Containers): Water containers deeply when top inch feels dry to the touch. Monitor pots every day or two during very hot weather.
Fertilizing (Garden): Plant in rich garden soil, amended with compost on an annual basis. No additional fertilizing required. But, keep in mind that Roselle grows best in large pots when cultivated in northern gardens.
Watering (Garden): Water deeply to establish. Water mature plants weekly during hot weather.
Beneficials Attracted to this Plant: Late season pollinators such as butterflies an many bees appreciate the flowers on Roselle.
Notes: Deadheading not required.
