Description: Try this rare pepper for its unique colour show - fruit morph through shades of orange, bronze, purple and then mature to dark red. Fruits average 10 - 15 cm (4 - 6"). Plants get loaded with fruit! A cayenne-type pepper, with robust heat. 

You can grow this sturdy pepper in pots or in the garden.

Germination: 14 days at 21 - 25° C.
Sowing: Sow a minimum of 10 - 12 weeks before planting out date. Bottom heat improves germination rates and times. If growing indoors under lights, sow anytime. For best results, apply Sea Magic™ kelp from first watering. Apply a seedling-starter fertilizer such as Evolve Seedling once the second set of true leaves has appeared, and then alternate between the kelp and seedling starter until transplant.
Planting depth: Lightly covered.
Planting in the garden: Wait to transplant outdoors until soil is warm (on average between June 1-7, in southern MB).
Space: 12” to 24” apart.
Container planting: Minimum 6” container per plant.

Growing in Containers: Well-suited to larger pots (minimum 6-8 inches)

Fertilizing (Containers): Feed with an organic veggie fertilizer through the season.

Watering (Containers): Water evenly - very important!

Growing in Mixed Planters: Well-suited for larger mixed planters. Think square foot gardening!

Fertilizing (Garden): Plant in a garden recently amended with compost. Application of Kelp fertilizer is beneficial.

Watering (Garden): Water deeply to establish. Water during periods of drought.

Suitability for Indoors: Well-suited for indoors, provided a sunny location.

Exposure: Full sun or grow lights.

What about Grow Lights? T5 or 26 - 54w CFL full spectrum lights are ideal

General Indoor Care: Bring potted plants indoors in late summer before night temperatures cool off. Or start fresh seeds indoors in late summer or fall.

Indoor Container Suggestions: Minimum 6" pot with drainage holes.

Winter Fertilizing: Fertilize monthly through winter with an organic plant food

Winter Watering: Water deeply when the soil feels dry to the touch.

Seeds can be shipped anywhere in Canada. The base shipping charge is $5.00 for letter mail, which covers most standard seed orders. Larger orders will show actual shipping charges in the cart. Shipping costs are displayed and confirmed before final checkout. Please choose "shipping" at checkout (or "local pickup", if you prefer to pick up at Sage Garden).
