Description: This is one of the most popular varieties of bananas for home gardeners to grow, as it truly has the potential to fruit when container grown! The trigger for fruiting in bananas is reaching their biological mature height, which in this case is about six feet. In our experience, this takes about 3 years if you gradually get up to a 5-gallon container. The fruit are delicious!

Bananas love to be well watered and fed, and this should be maintained twelve months of the year if you have a warm, bright location for wintering indoors. We actually let our bananas go fairly sleepy in winter, keeping them in a cooler location - but you will get to fruiting faster if you can keep them growing actively year round.

Bananas develop pups around the main stem, which take over once the most mature section has fruited. We recommend leaving the main stem plus two pups to grow, and additional pups can be removed.

Because bananas have large leaves, we recommend showering them about once a month to keep dust off of them.
