Description: Hollyhocks are biennials, which means it requires two seasons of growth to complete its life cycle. In its first year it establishes roots and foliage. In its second (and final) year it will flower and re-seed. These hollyhocks form dozens of funnel shaped, five-petaled, buttery-yellow flowers along the tall, slender stalks. Hollyhock leaves are rough (think sandpaper!) with erect, bristly-haired stems.
