Description: Sweet Potatoes are among the hot trends in edible gardening! However, Canadian gardeners are just starting to figure out the steps required to get a real harvest from these tropical vines. Join Sage Garden plant experimenter Dave, to learn all about what it takes to grow a satisfying crop of Sweet Potatoes in a prairie climate. This course will deal with both container and garden cultivation of Sweet Potatoes, with an emphasis on the benefits of growing this crop in pots.

Dave Hanson is a gardening educator with 18 years experience as a professional speaker and workshop facilitator, television and print media consultant, as well as radio columnist for the CBC.
He is also the founder of Sage Garden Greenhouse, a unique local garden centre where healthy production practices, remarkable plants and a hands-on philosophy set the business apart.
If there is one thing Dave love's about his job, it is the opportunity for life long learning that comes from working with awesome people and amazing plants.
Workshops require pre-registration, in person, by phone or through or secure web-store. We cannot accept workshop registrations by email or at off-site venues.
If you are unable to attend a class you have registered for, simply let us know by phone or by email before the course runs; however, please note the following cancellation guidelines:
- Up to 7 days before the class: registration fees are fully refundable
- Between 2 and 6 days before the class: registration fees are refunded as store credit (gift certificate)
- 48 hours before the class or less: registration fee is forfeited (no refund or store credit)
All workshops take place at our site (3410 St. Mary's Road, just five minutes south of the Perimeter) either in our gardens, greenhouse, or coldframe buildings. Workshops run rain or shine; please come prepared for the weather.
Our washroom facilities are by port-a-potty.
