Description: Heirloom. This extremely dark hollyhock has a history dating back to 1629. Self-seeding biennial grows to 6 feet tall. Deep red flowers look almost black. It is good for landscaping and ornamental gardens.

Germination: 10- 14 days at 21°C.
Sowing: Indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. 2-3 seeds per cell.
Outdoors: sow late May, direct to garden beds.
Direct seeding outdoors: Direct-seeding is an ideal way to plant Hollyhock.
Planting Depth: Press firmly into soil, but leave seeds exposed to full sun.
Spacing: Plant or thin to 45-60 cm (18-36") between plants.

Growing in Containers: Not suited for containers.
