Description: Cool-season green with a peppery flavour. Perfect for adding a little zest to your salads, sandwiches and mixed vegetables. Can be grown as a micro-green year-round.

Germination: 1 - 3 days at 15-21° C.
Sowing: Indoors 2 - 3 weeks before last frost date. Sow 5 - 8 seeds per cell or plug. For best results, apply  Sea Magic™ kelp from first watering. Apply a seedling-starter fertilizer such as Evolve Seedling once the second set of true leaves has appeared, and then alternate between the kelp and seedling starter until transplant.
Planting Depth: Surface to 1/4”. Lightly press into the planting medium.
Outdoors: Direct seed in early June, once soil has warmed and there is no chance of frost. Direct-seeding is an easy way to start healthy cress!
Seed Spacing: Prepare the soil or pots and sprinkle seeds. Lightly tamp or sprinkle a light covering of soil over the seeded area.

Pruning: Begin clipping leaves in 7-10 days, and continue for 2-3 weeks. Sow every 3 weeks for a continuous supply.

Harvesting: Harvest young, tender leaves. Use sharp scissors.

Growing in Containers: Well-suited for containers 6 in. and up.

Fertilizing (Containers): Add 25% Sea Soil™ to potting mix at time of transplant.No additional fertilizer required for this fast-producing crop.

Watering (Containers): Water containers deeply when top inch feels dry to the touch. Monitor every day or two during very hot weather.

Growing in Mixed Planters: Well-suited for larger mixed planters, plant with other leafy greens.

Fertilizing (Garden): Add quality compost to your garden bed before planting.

Watering (Garden): Water young plants daily to get them established, then water only as required.

Suitability for Indoors: Not ideal for indoors, but can be grown as a specialized crop.

Exposure: Brightest available.

What about Grow Lights? Fluorescent grow lights are useful if growing indoors during the winter months.

General Indoor Care: 

  • Plan for multiple indoor sows to maintain a constant supply (under lights or as a micro green).
  • Provide good air circulation.

Indoor Container Suggestions: Minimum 6" pot with drainage holes.

Winter Fertilizing: Add 25% compost to your potting mix; no additional fertilizing will be required.

Winter Watering: Water as soil feels dry to the touch. Check on plants every 1 - 2 days.
