Description: An excellent choice for the home gardener and canner, this dwarf Lima bean produces an early, abundant crop of creamy white beans. The bush-type plants are dependable, even when gardening conditions are not optimal. Also known as Dwarf Sieva.

Pack Size: 50 seeds

Latin Name: Phaseolus lunatus
Alternative Names: Dwarf Sieva
Main Uses: Culinary

Days to Maturity: 60 - 75 days
Exposure: Full sun
Height: Bush type

Germination Instructions: Lima beans germinate and thrive in hot temperatures, and can be direct-seeded in mid-June in southern Manitoba. Alternatively, seeds can be started 3 weeks before average last frost date using peat or coir starter pots (to avoid disturbing roots at transplant). Seeds will germinate in 7-18 days.
Outdoor planting depth: 1.5"
Outdoor spacing: Sow seeds 5" apart in rows 3' apart. Thin to 8" apart.
Special notes: do not soak seeds ahead of germinating.

Harvesting: Harvest pods when they are plum and firm to the touch. Pick regularly. Avoid leaving pods on too long, as they become tough.

Growing in Containers: Well-suited to larger pots (12 inches and up).

Fertilizing (Containers): Nitrogen fertilizer not required, but aged compost is wonderful!

Watering (Containers): Water evenly - plants do not do well if soggy OR parched.

Growing in Mixed Planters: Not well-suited for mixed planters.

Fertilizing (Garden): Since Lima Bean plants fix their own nitrogen, quality compost is all that is required.

Watering (Garden): Water evenly - avoid periods of soggy or parched soil. Especially important during germination and during flowering.

Suitability for Indoors: Not suited for indoors.
