Germination Instructions: Clover is best sown in May, once the ground can be prepared, or in late August and early September. Avoid planting July or August, as warm weather will inhibit germination.

To prepare the lawn for over-seeding, mow grass close to the ground, rake, and dethatch. Spread a thin layer of compost, to ensure seed-to-soil contact. Mixing clover with sawdust or sand makes it easier to spread. After spreading (by hand or with a spreader), water daily for two weeks. After spreading, sprinkle a light layer of compost over the seeded area and use a roller to ensure the seed sticks.

If mixing the clover with grass seed at the time of sowing, use a ratio of 10 - 15% cover and the balance turf grass.

For a clover-only space, weed the site and then rake to loosen the top layer of soil. If the soil is poor, add a quarter-inch to half-inch layer of compost.  Distribute the seed evenly and ensure good seed-to-soil contact. Water regularly until the clover is evenly germinated.

Beneficials Attracted to this Plant: Bees, ladybugs, and other small beneficial insects love feeding on the abundant nectar found in clover flowers. For this reason, it is worth allowing clover to flower in lawns.

Suitability for Indoors: Not suited for indoors.
