Description: Huge and luminous, pollinators flock to these gorgeous blooms often towering 6 feet or more, quite a sight as they sway in the breeze. From seed, hollyhocks flower in their second season after growing a stout island of round emerald leaves in year one. And Friends, those silky purple-black petals are an incredible dye as well as edible! We love to press them into frosted cakes alongside borage and bright calendula. Thriving in full as well as part sun, hollyhocks are short-lived perennials but do reseed as well. Once established, hollyhocks are remarkably drought tolerant and even in gravelly, mediocre soils they shine. Their seeds are so exquisite and easy to save, as well! And we hope that you do
